Two passengers were killed, and a bus was completely destroyed in a deadly attack on travelers in Walewale.
The bus, which was traveling from Kumasi to Garu, was ambushed by gunmen after it made a stop in front of the ADB Bank in Walewale.
The attack is believed to be connected to the ongoing Chieftaincy conflict in Bawku. This incident follows a similar attack on February 11, 2025, when three passengers were killed and their bus set ablaze near Wulugu on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway.
In a related development, three more individuals were killed in a gun battle in Bawku on February 12, further intensifying tensions in the region.
The latest deaths bring the total number of fatalities in the conflict to 54 since it reignited in October 2024.
