Ho. Governs Kwame Agbodza

We extend our sincere congratulations to Hon. Agbodza Governs on his nomination by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as Minister for Roads and Highways. As the Member of Parliament for the good people of Adaklu and the Majority Chief Whip in the 9th Parliament, Hon. Agbodza has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a steadfast commitment to national development. As he awaits vetting by the Appointment Committee of Parliament, we are confident that his expertise and dedication will guide him in addressing the pressing infrastructure challenges facing the country.

One such critical issue that requires urgent attention is the Ho-Dzodze-Aflao road. Originally constructed under the leadership of the late President Jerry John Rawlings, this road has long been a vital corridor for trade, mobility, and regional integration. However, under the previous NPP government, significant portions of the road were dismantled, with the tarred surface being removed and replaced with red sand. This action not only disrupted transportation but also caused widespread dust pollution, posing serious health risks to communities and road users.

The dismantling of the tarred sections, without any alternative solutions or plans for completion, has left the road in a deteriorated state, hindering mobility, economic activities, and the safety of those who depend on it. This situation is unacceptable and requires immediate action.

We respectfully urge Hon. Agbodza to prioritize the construction of the Ho-Dzodze-Aflao road. Completing this road is essential for enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade, improving road safety, and fostering stronger cross-border relations between Ghana and Togo. It will also play a key role in the overall socio-economic development of the Volta Region.

We are confident that Hon. Agbodza’s leadership will ensure the timely completion of this vital project, addressing the current challenges and contributing to the continued development of the region.

Once again, we offer our congratulations to Hon. Agbodza Governs on his nomination and look forward to the positive impact his leadership will have on the country’s infrastructure development.
