President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern caution to individuals seeking appointments in his incoming administration, emphasizing that only those ready to work hard and prioritize Ghana’s progress will be considered.

During a courtesy visit on Thursday, December 12, by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and his delegation, Mr. Mahama addressed the pressing need for effective and accountable leadership in the face of heightened expectations from Ghanaians.

“Ghanaians are slow to react, but when they have had enough, they will punish you,” he warned, underscoring the weight of responsibility on his government to deliver tangible results.

Urging aspirants to prepare for the demands of public service, the President-elect stated, “I want to urge those aspiring to work with the new government that it will not be easy, nor will it be business as usual. It is going to require hard work.”

He also advised individuals to carefully consider their readiness for the commitment required in public service. “If you are not prepared to work hard and to sacrifice for Ghana, then you are better off remaining in the private sector,” he added.

Mr. Mahama’s remarks come as he prepares to lead a government tasked with addressing the country’s challenges and meeting the aspirations of its citizens.
