Electrochem Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the McDan Group, is set to employ 3,200 workers to help the company manually harvest salt for its upcoming harvest season.

This practice aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting local communities by creating sustainable employment opportunities. It is also intended to offer job opportunities to the country’s unemployed population.

The CEO of Electrochem, Mr. Razak Adam, in an interview with the media, explained that the decision to recruit nationally for this labour-intensive task is rooted in a desire to empower the people of Ada and Ghana as a whole while stimulating the local economy of the country.

“At Electrochem Ghana, we believe in working hand-in-hand with the communities where we operate. This salt harvest is not just an economic activity; it’s an opportunity to provide jobs, improve livelihoods, and support the people who have been custodians of this resource,” Mr Adam stated.

For Mr. Adam, Electrochem is committed to responsible and sustainable practices.

“Ada has always been at the heart of salt production in Ghana. By preserving a manual approach for this harvest season, we are not only choosing traditional practices but also ensuring that the economic benefits remain in the community. We are dedicated to creating shared value and leaving a positive impact,” he added. Even though the company has the capacity to mechanically harvest, it chooses to use manual labour to preserve the communities long lasting traditions of manual harvesting and making them economically independent.

He said the company is very committed to the welfare of the people of Ada and Ghana as a whole, particularly in the area of job creation.

“Our goal extends beyond salt harvesting. We are committed to investing in education, health, and infrastructure to support the sustainable development of Ada and Ghana as a whole. The people of Ghana (Ada) are our partners, and together, we aim to build a legacy that serves generations to come.”

For Mr. Adam, this step is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the area, providing stable jobs and income for thousands of families in Ada and Ghana as a whole.
