Nii Abossey Okai III, the chief of Abossey Okai, has urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to prioritize peace and unity as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.
His appeal comes as the community prepares for the upcoming Homowo celebration, a significant event that highlights the rich cultural heritage of the Ga people.
Nii Abossey Okai emphasized that Homowo is a time for unity and reconciliation, and it should serve as a reminder for all Ghanaians to set aside differences and work towards a shared future. "As we celebrate Homowo, let us remember the importance of peace and unity in our lives," he stated.
He also warned against violence and electoral malpractices, advising the youth to resist any attempts at manipulation or deception. "Don't be misled by politicians or peers, and avoid taking the law into your own hands," he cautioned.
As the Homowo celebration drew near, Nii Abossey Okai outlined the planned activities for the festival in Abossey Okai. The festivities will kick off with a community cleanup exercise on Saturday, followed by a free health screening for all residents. On the 24th of this month, the celebration will feature the traditional sprinkling of the holy food (Kpokpoi) in the morning, and a lively street carnival in the evening.
Nii Abossey Okai III extended an open invitation to all Ghanaians to join the people of Abossey Okai in making this year's Homowo celebration both memorable and remarkable.
