Edem Agbana, a former Deputy National Youths Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised Jake Bediako, the Coordinator for Youth Engagement at the Presidency.
In a tweet on Monday, September 25, Edem Agbana described Bediako's position as a "waste of money", arguing that he has done nothing to justify his inclusion on government's payroll.
The NDC stalwart questioned youth engagement initiatives or pro-youth policies Mr Bediako has spearheaded that he is continuously paid salaries.
With youth unemployment a major issue in Ghana, Mr Agbana implied that resources could be better spent on meaningful youth programs instead of salaries for coordinators who have not achieved any results.
"This govt has been engaged in wasteful spending especially on people who have titles but do NOTHING for this country. One such example is Jake Bediako, the Coordinator for Youth Engagement at Ghana’s Presidency. What Youth Engagement or Pro-youth Policy can he boast of that justifies his stay on govt payroll?" Edem Agbana's tweet read.
His comments add to growing pressure on President Akufo-Addo's government over perceptions of excessive spending and an overbloated government payroll.
In a similar tweet, Edem Agbana stated, “Jake Bediako when are you resigning? You have been a monumental failure in office..”
