A 14-year-old girl has died under tragic circumstances in Binaba in the Upper East Region, prompting calls from her family for a thorough investigation and swift justice.
The deceased, identified as Suleimana Matan Baba, was reportedly left at home alone when her parents travelled to Gambaga in the North East Region to attend a funeral.
According to relatives, the teenager was later found dead in the house. Family members allege that a young man may have broken into the residence and attacked her.
Speaking about the incident, the victim's father, a fisherman, said his daughter had previously informed her mother that a young man had allegedly attempted to sexually assault her at their home on an earlier occasion.
The suspect, known in the community as "Kay 2," has also been linked by residents to a separate incident in which he allegedly attempted to attack female students at Kusanaba Senior High School but was reportedly apprehended by students.
The circumstances surrounding the teenager's death remain unclear, and police investigations are ongoing to establish the facts of the case.
The family has expressed dissatisfaction with what it describes as the slow pace of the investigation and is appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to intervene and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Residents of Binaba have also called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, which has left the community in shock.
