Do you think Ghanaians are still politically unenlightened in this modern era of technological advancement? Most voters are now wise and they know the political lies you people keep telling us just to get our votes to come and also continue from where the other party has ended with the stealing.
Tell me, how many people have the NDC and NPP governments sent to jail since the country came back to democratic rule? Bring out the number and let us juxtapose the political thievery that occurred since then and the number of people who have gone to jail for those crimes they committed against the state. This is where you will see that the two major political parties are just taking us for granted. They only use the fight against corruption and galamsey to secure our votes and go back to engage in these crimes.
Before JJ, may his soul rest in peace, left office and JAK took over, the mantra was that " When we come to office we will jail all those corrupt officials under the NDC 1 regime. Ghanaians were made to understand the system was too corrupt and that those who were behind it were the government officials. We were told how Rawlings and the wife made money from the state and that they would bring it all back. Indeed, we were made to believe that the NPP knew where the money JJ and his wife stole was kept. They knew the banks and the account numbers etc, etc.
But when Kuffour came to office, tell us how many people he jailed and even if those he jailed, if they spent their full jail terms. We never knew they knew nothing or they comprised what they knew to also come and steal. Have you ever asked yourself why so many professionals are quitting their jobs in pursuit of politics and it is either the NDC or NPP they want to join? Your guess is as good as mine. The duopoly, thus NDC and NPP have strategized to compromise their stances on the fight against these two menaces that have become a national blemish. That's why they treat each other with golden gloves whenever one is in government.
As stated earlier, the Kuffour administration also started looting the state property and embezzling funds, left, right, centre, back, front, middle, up and down. It means looting was done in all the areas you can think of. Then, the NDC 2 under Mills, may his soul rest in peace, started campaigning and telling Ghanaians about what we know of the system already and we were only looking forward to seeing something done about it. That's the pervasive corruption in society. The Mills administration while in opposition also vowed to deal with all the corrupt officials of the then-Kuffour government. Ask yourself again, how many of those people have served or serving any jail terms?
The commonest and of course, the most massive political corruption I can think of is the "Ghana@50" celebration and how my main man, Wereko Brooby and others chopped the money like anything and nothing happened to anybody. When Mills came, he was even like a Catholic priest who believes in God's punishment of the wicked. He was like a preacher man in church and that wasn't the best because he was too good to be a president for a country that is full of political charlatans. Because of his nature, all those who embezzled funds went away with impunity.
Mills' time was cut short by his sudden demise. But I don't want to believe he was only gathering material facts to jail anybody. That man was too soft for that. Others even inferred that his sluggish nature incurred the wrath of JJ who didn't like it at all. Unfortunately, the two are late now and when they meet in heaven or hell, they will sort it out as old friends as they were.
Furthermore, the NPP who were then again in opposition started singing loudly about how they have figured out corrupt officials within the Mills' administration and how they planned to deal with them. What got many Ghanaians impressively disappointed was the first-class corruption the JM administration was tagged with. Corruption became synonymous with JM. Even today, the word corruption can't be mentioned by the NPP without the name JM. Yet, the man is innocently and happily roaming about without any single charge of corruption against him not to talk about any of any cases initiated against him. If JM and his numerous appointees who were accused of many corrupt-related acts are not being jailed, then it means someone told a lie just to get votes from the unsuspecting ordinary people.
Again, many of JM's appointees were and are still accused of corruption. But we are yet to see or hear any of them have been sent to jail for involving in any of the alleged crimes. Yes! I'm aware of the many ongoing trials but where will that take us to? I even call it a waste of State resources to pursue these cases in court. For me, it's like throwing away more money to chase what has been embezzled. Just think about how many times the court has sat on Woyome's case without results. And the like of them are one and many.
Now, after the NPP and Nana have failed to jail a single soul under the JM administration, the NDC has started the slogan again, which to me is mumbo-jumbo if not a display of stupidity. Do you think the Ghanaian voter is dumb or what? Until we start to see corrupt officials rotting in jails for their involvement in corrupt acts, nobody will take any of the two political parties seriously. They are like the two ears of the same horse; one on the right and the other, on the left but they belong to the same horse. Political armed robbers they both are!
There are three key issues if any politician comes to campaign about, she or he won't get my vote. These are; Galamasey, corruption, and IMF. These three things are diseases that have affected the country and they are highly incurable. Therefore, no matter how much any political party talks about the above issues, the problems remain hanging on our necks. It's either we don't have the political will to fight against these issues or we simply can't do anything about them.
Finally, it must be realised that the fight against corruption, galamasey, and going to IMF can't be won by either the NDC or the NPP. All they know is to engage in political rhetoric every four years just to win power and renege on the promises they made to the ordinary citizens; who continue to live in abject poverty while the political class continue to enjoy taxpayers' money at the expense of the poor in the country.
To break this political curse, we need a third force of political party and that can't be no other than the old and trusted CPP that founded the country. Our people say If you don't know the beginning of a basket, it will be near impossible to tell how the weaver crafted it and how to patch it up when it begins to spoil. But the CPP began the basket( development of the country) hence once it's spoiling or not already spoiled, it's only the CPP that can amend it and bring back political rejuvenation to revamp the wobbling economic situation in the country. The youth must rethink the future of this country and join the CPP to rescue the perishing economy from the shackles of the NPP and NDC.
