Faith Porter Earns Global Praise After Miss Grand International All Stars First Runner‑Up Finish

Pageantry enthusiast Ganyobi Niiquaye has applauded Faith Maria Porter for securing the first runner‑up position at the Miss Grand International All Stars competition, describing it as one of Ghana’s strongest showings on the global stage.

“Faith carried not only her personal ambitions but also the hopes of many Ghanaians eager to see the country reclaim its place among the world’s pageantry elite,” Niiquaye said.

Porter’s campaign, he noted, was marked by consistency and excellence. She topped the Bare Face Challenge with a score of 9.74, led the swimsuit rankings, and earned the highest judges’ scores in both the Top 5 and Top 3 interview rounds — performances that made her a genuine contender for the crown.

Pageantry blogger Isaac Acheampong of Pageantry Ghana attributed her success to her ability to connect with audiences. “She didn’t just perform well; she connected with people. By the end of the competition, many genuinely believed she could win,” he said.

Experts, however, point out that modern pageantry extends beyond stage performance. Public voting, digital engagement and fan mobilisation now play a decisive role in determining outcomes.

Abena Akuaba, National Director of Miss Grand Ghana and Miss Grand International 2020 winner, acknowledged the importance of public participation but cautioned against allowing it to overshadow merit. “Public voting allows fans to actively participate, but it should complement performance rather than define it,” she said.

Akuaba added that many Ghanaians underestimate the scale of international pageantry and the opportunities it creates for contestants and the country.

Niiquaye also highlighted economic constraints and technical challenges as barriers to mobilising votes. While many fans are willing to support, not everyone can consistently contribute financially. He further cited misconceptions about pageantry as a factor that may have cost Porter the crown.

“Some people still see pageantry as women exposing their bodies. Others ask what they personally gain if a contestant wins, making it difficult to mobilise widespread support,” he said.
