Ghanaian preacher Prophet Dr. Nana Abboh has issued a strong warning to pastors who make the payment of tithes compulsory or demand that such offerings be given directly to them.
Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz, he stressed that tithing is a personal spiritual obligation that should remain strictly between the giver and God, rather than being enforced by church leaders.
According to him, churches should neither demand tithes nor pressure members into paying them, as doing so defeats the spiritual essence of the practice. He also criticized the practice of recording tithe payments, describing it as inappropriate and a deviation from true Christian principles.
Prophet Nana Abboh went further to caution that any pastor who insists on receiving tithes directly from congregants would face consequences, insisting that such actions amount to a misuse of spiritual authority.
He argued that the growing emphasis on financial contributions within some churches risks overshadowing the core message of faith and salvation, urging religious leaders to refocus on spiritual guidance rather than monetary expectations.
