Miami FC midfielder Kwadwo Poku has revealed he rejected overtures to represent the United States of America at the international level.

The 25-year-old, capped twice by the West Africans, was approached by former coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

However, the midfielder turned down the request, opting to represent his native country at the international level.

'Yes I had a couple of calls from people in the FA, people working with the US Soccer team,' Poku told GTV Sports plus.

'They wanted me to play for them but I decided to play for Ghana, it has always been my dream to play for my country.'

Poku has spent the past seven years in the United States where he has featured for the likes of Georgia Revolution

Atlanta Silverbacks and New York City FC.
