Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has rejected suggestions that Ghana’s squad is feeling nervous ahead of their opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, drawn in Group L, begin their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
The four-time African champions head into the tournament under pressure after group-stage exits in their last two appearances at the World Cup in Brazil and Qatar.
However, Ati-Zigi insists the mood within the camp is positive and focused, pointing to strong team unity as a key indicator of their readiness.
“Nervous? I don’t think that’s the word because I feel there’s good team spirit. This shows that everyone is ready and everyone is looking forward to it," the St. Gallen goalkeeper said, according to the Ghana FA Media.
“As I said, it’s a dream to be here, so everyone is ready to live it,” he added.
Ghana will be hoping to start strongly against Panama as they aim to progress from a challenging group.
