Maritzburg United unveiled striker Yakabu Mohammed as one of their six new signing at a ceremony on Wednesday morning.
He was outdoored alongside Nhlanhla Vilakazi from Ajax Cape Town, Thokozani Sekotlong from University of Pretoria, Robyn Johannes from Orlando Pirates, Ashley Hartog from SuperSport United and Thamsanqa Mkhize from Golden Arrows.
The club's official Twitter account confirmed with posts: “The first player unveiled is Ghanaian Striker, Yakubu Mohamed who has been signed from Ashanti Gold.
“Yakubu Mohammed will wear the number 9 Jersey at the club this season. #Teamofchoice #Newsignings.”
The 24-year-old finished last season's Ghana Premier League as second joint topscorer with 14 goals.
Mohammed trained with fellow PSL side Orlando Pirates but the Bucs refused to sign him claiming he lacked stamina.
He has been signed by the Pietermaritzburg-based side as a replacement for Cuthbert Malajila who has moved to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Moahmmed will join compatriots Awal Mohammed and Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi.
