Kpone Traditional Council announces death of paramount chief after 37 years of reign 

The Kpone Traditional Council (KTC) has officially announced the death of its Paramount Chief, Nii Tetteh Otu II, who ruled the Kpone State for 37 years.

 The announcement was made by the Mankralo of the Kpone Traditional Council, Nii Ofosu Oblie VI, at a solemn gathering of chiefs, elders, and members of the community at Kpone in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

 Nii Ofosu Oblie VI said the late paramount chief, who was enstooled in 1989, dedicated his life to the service and development of the Kpone Traditional Area and played a significant role in preserving the customs, traditions, and cultural heritage of the people.

 He explained that following the official announcement to the indigenes of Kpone, the next customary step would be to formally notify the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and subsequently the National House of Chiefs in accordance with established customs and traditions.

 “The necessary customary procedures are being followed to ensure that all relevant traditional institutions are duly informed as demanded by our customs and traditions,” he stated.

 The Mankralo clarified that no substantive chief had been installed to succeed the late Paramount Chief and assured the people that due diligence would be observed in selecting a successor.

 According to him, the traditional authorities would strictly adhere to laid-down customs and succession processes to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.

 Nii Ofosu Oblie VI cautioned individuals and groups against actions capable of creating unnecessary tension within the Kpone Traditional Area.

 He urged residents, indigenes, and all stakeholders to respect the traditions and cultural values of the Kpone people during the mourning period.

 “We appeal to everyone to remain calm and respect the customs of the land. This is a period of mourning and reflection, and we must avoid actions that could undermine the peace and unity of our communities,” he said.  

The Mankralo further called on members of the Kpone Traditional Council and the ten clans that make up the traditional area to remain united and supportive of one another as they mourn the revered traditional ruler.
