2010 World Cup, Ghana ­- Germany Sold Out

Almost three months before the FIFA Wolrd Cup kicks off in South Africa, tickets for Ghana’s group clash with Germany have been sold out.

However, only the most expensive tickets for Ghana’s other Group D games against Serbia and Australia are available to fans.

Ghana Football Association executive committee member responsible for World Cup ticket allocations, Fred Crentsil, said tickets remaining for those two games cost $176 each, and are available to anybody willing to watch either game.

He told Daily Graphic that anybody wanting to watch those games could apply and pay for them between now and April 7.

He, however, insisted that those whose applications succeeded when the opportunity was first opened have up to Friday to pay for their tickets or forfeit the opportunity.

He explained that FIFA allocated 3,300, 3,400 and 8,700 tickets to Ghana for the games against Serbia, Australia and Germany respectively, but following just 1900 applications for each of the three matches, the remainder was returned to FIFA.

While the June 11 to July 11 South Africa World Cup is expected to be a showpiece showcasing Africa’s organisational abilities and passion for the world’s most popular sport, it is expected to attract the highest attendance in the history of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, sources say only the Millenium Supporters Union of Ghana (MISUGHA) has paid for the 211 tickets allocated to it. All the other supporters groups are yet to pay for their allocations.
