A leading member of United Party, Hopeson Adorye has criticised reactions from sections of the medical community following the suspension of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital CEO, arguing that healthcare services should not be disrupted because of an administrative decision.
Speaking on Joy News, the former NPP stalwart official questioned why patients should bear the consequences of a dispute involving one hospital administrator.
“You are saying because someone is going on suspension for two weeks, the whole staff is going on strike. We are not going to take care of sick people and all those kind of things. Why?” he asked.
His comments come amid tensions surrounding the suspension of Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo after the Health Minister directed the KATH Board to take action over the CEO’s handling of a temporary halt in emergency admissions.
Adorye appealed directly to doctors and health workers to remain focused on patient care.
“Doctors, calm down. Let us respect the minister,” he said.
He argued that the suspended CEO had not lost his position and would return after serving the sanction.
“Your friend is just on a two-week suspension. There is no way they will say go and stay home. He will come back,” he emphasised.
