The management of Accra Hearts of Oak has relieved eight players of their duties with the club with immediate effect.
They include two of the club's leading goalkeepers for the past two seasons-Laud Quartey and Sannie Mohammed, who kept the posts when the club won the first CAF Confederation Cup in 2004.
Others are Michael Donkor, who has been a regular defender of the club for the past four years and Francis Bossman, also a prominent midfelder for sometime now.
The rest are defender Joseph Techie Menson, striker Moses Andoh, Joseph Aryeetey and Michael Asante, who joined the Phobians last season from rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The letters accompaying the decision, which were issued to the players, granted them the freedom to look for clubs of their choice for the upcoming season.
A source told the Daily Graphic yesterday that the decision to place the players on transfer followed recommendations by the technical team of the club, led by Coach Kosta Papic.
He said the move was part of efforts by the technical handlers to revamp the team for the upcoming season, adding that some seasoned .players had been targeted for recruitment.
