My transition at Manchester City was tough - Antoine Semenyo

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has admitted that adapting to life at Manchester City has been a challenging experience, saying manager Pep Guardiola made his introduction to the club tough.

The 26-year-old made the remarks after being named in the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Season, a recognition that capped an impressive campaign for the Ghana international.

Semenyo, who has played in all four divisions of English football during his career, said it was a special moment to be recognised alongside some of the league’s standout performers.

“It’s an honour to be standing next to these players. It’s amazing and, yeah, it’s been a long journey,” he said.

The forward joined Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth and acknowledged that the transition had not been straightforward, highlighting the high standards demanded by Guardiola.

“It was tough. Pep made it tough for me coming in, but I’ve enjoyed every minute, and I’m improving every day,” Semenyo said.

Despite the challenges, Semenyo has enjoyed a productive season. He scored 21 Premier League goals, netting 10 times for Bournemouth before adding 11 more following his move to City. He also contributed six assists, split evenly between the two clubs.

His performances have played a key role in earning him a place in the PFA Team of the Season and further strengthened his reputation as one of Ghana’s leading players in Europe.

Semenyo is expected to feature on Friday when Manchester City travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
