Reshuffle: Mahama moves Brogya Genfi from Deputy Defence to Presidential Advisory role

President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi to the Presidency as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.

The reassignment forms part of further changes President Mahama has made to his government, including the movement of Labour Minister Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo to the Special Initiatives portfolio.

The latest changes take immediate effect, according to a statement from the Presidency on Wednesday, August 26.

“The President has also reassigned Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi as a Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness,” the statement said.

Brogya Genfi was appointed Deputy Minister for Defence in March 2025 and had remained in the position until the latest changes.

His reassignment follows an earlier ministerial reshuffle announced by President Mahama on August 7.

That reshuffle included the movement of Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Defence Ministry.

Under the latest changes, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum replaces Mr Pelpuo as Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation, while Mr Pelpuo becomes Minister of State for Special Initiatives.
