Ghana’s biggest problem is lack of intentionality about development – KSM

Veteran broadcaster and actor Kwaku Sintim Misa, popularly known as KSM, has identified what he believes is Ghana’s biggest development challenge.

According to him, the country has failed to adopt a deliberate and coordinated approach to its development agenda, resulting in policies and initiatives that lack clear long-term direction.

He said both political leaders and citizens must become more deliberate about how they plan and pursue the country’s development.

Speaking on his The KSM Show on Tuesday, August 25, the veteran broadcaster said every development initiative must have a clear purpose and should be pursued as part of a coordinated national agenda.

“The more I look at Ghana, the surer I become that the greatest problem facing us is that we are not intentional about our development,” KSM said.

He questioned the long-term planning behind some government initiatives, including proposals to provide motorcycles for young people.

KSM said the country must examine whether such initiatives form part of a broader and sustainable development strategy.

“Everything must be intentional. How do we coordinate our thinking and be intentional about development?” he asked.

He also cited Ghana’s experience with public transport and the emergence of commercial motorcycle operations as examples of areas where he believes the country has lacked sufficient planning and coordination.

KSM urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to pay greater attention to how national policies are designed and implemented.

He said a more intentional approach to development would require citizens and leaders to coordinate their thinking and focus on achieving clearly defined national objectives.
