Aspiring First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has pledged to lead the party’s charge against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He said the NPP needs experienced and versatile leaders who can mobilise different sections of the Ghanaian population and strengthen the party’s chances of returning to power.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 26, when he filed his nomination forms at the party’s headquarters, Abdul-Hamid said he possesses the networks and experience required to serve as a unifying figure and effective campaigner for the party.
“I want this party to put me in the front lines in 2028, and I shall spit pure fire towards the NDC. That’s what I represent,” he said.
The former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority said his political reach cuts across settler communities, Zongo communities, the media, the intellectual class and the youth.
He argued that these connections would make him an effective vice chairman capable of helping the party build a broad coalition ahead of the 2028 election.
“I carry everything that this party wants for 2028. I carry settler communities, Zongo communities, media people, the intellectual class and the youth of this country,” he said.
The former Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development described himself as a “utility player”, drawing an analogy from football to emphasise his versatility.
He said he could perform effectively in different roles depending on what the party requires.

Fight your own fight against conviction because you are under heavy investigation. Your fight against the NDC is meaningless because no intelligent Ghanaian will walk down to the polls to vote for the NPP. It's only the NPP members, which will amount to 5%. What will give the NPP about 20% of the votes is submitting to accountability, and one of them is to bring down Ken Ofori-Atta to defend himself. Other than that, the NPP is wasting its time. No Ghanaian is interested in passing through ...
