Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed confidence in Ghana's ability to defeat England when the two sides clash in their second Group L fixture at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, making their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, will face the Three Lions on Tuesday after opening their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama at the BMO Field.
Despite the significance of the upcoming encounter, Ayew says the Black Stars remain focused on taking the tournament one match at a time.
Speaking to Ghanafa.org, the Leicester City forward stressed the importance of maintaining concentration as Ghana chase a place in the knockout stages.
"We have two important games left. We take it game by game," Ayew said.
"We are focused on getting the three points in the next match, and after that we will think about the last game."
England head into the contest full of confidence after beginning their campaign with an emphatic 4-2 win over Croatia. Another victory for the Europeans would guarantee their place in the Round of 32.
However, Ghana know that a positive result against England would significantly boost their chances of progressing ahead of their final group game against Croatia.
Ayew acknowledged the quality within the England squad but insisted the Black Stars have the belief and determination to spring a surprise.
"It's always difficult playing at the World Cup. There are no easy games, but we believe in ourselves, and we feel that anything is possible."
The Black Stars will round off their group-stage campaign against Croatia four days after facing England, with Otto Addo's men determined to secure a return to the knockout phase for the first time since their historic quarter-final run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
