Ghana’s new head coach, Carlos Queiroz, will be officially unveiled on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as he begins preparations to lead the Black Stars into the FIFA World Cup in North America.

The Portuguese manager takes over following the dismissal of Otto Addo last month, after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats against Austria and Germany during their build-up to the global showpiece.

Queiroz, who has previously managed Egypt, Portugal and Colombia, arrives with extensive international experience and will be tasked with steering Ghana’s campaign at the World Cup scheduled for June and July.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the unveiling ceremony will take place at the Alisa Hotel in Accra at 1:00 pm, where Queiroz will meet the media for the first time in his new role.

He is expected to outline his technical approach, share his vision for the national team, and respond to questions from journalists as Ghana’s preparations intensify ahead of the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The event will also serve as his formal introduction to the Ghanaian public, while helping set expectations for the team’s World Cup campaign and strengthening coordination between the technical team, media, and supporters.

Queiroz is expected to immediately oversee Ghana’s final warm-up fixtures against Mexico and Wales on June 2 before the tournament begins.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama on June 17, England on June 23, and Croatia on June 27.

Renowned for his tournament pedigree, Queiroz has previously guided South Africa to World Cup qualification in 2002, taken Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and led Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.

His appointment is seen as a move to bring stability to the Black Stars and improve their fortunes after early exits in the 2014 and 2022 World Cups.
