President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, is expected in Rabat on Thursday as part of an official visit focused on key developments within the African game.
The trip comes in the wake of a contentious ruling by CAF’s judicial bodies over the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which was awarded as a 3-0 victory to Morocco.
The decision has since been challenged by the Senegalese Football Federation, who have taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
During his stay, Motsepe is scheduled to hold talks with Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, alongside other key stakeholders in the country’s football administration.
CAF is also expected to address the media, with a press conference planned to provide further clarity on recent decisions and broader issues affecting the continental body.
The Morocco visit follows Motsepe’s recent trip to Senegal and forms part of a wider diplomatic effort by CAF to manage the fallout from the tournament and ease tensions between the two nations.
It underlines the governing body’s intention to stay closely engaged with unfolding developments while safeguarding the integrity of its competitions across the continent.
