The Ghana male U-17 national team has been knocked out of the 2021 WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations tournament following a 3-1 defeat to their counterpart from Cote d’Ivoire on Tuesday afternoon.
The Black Starlets team today locked horns with the Young Elephants for the final Group B game of the youth tournament being hosted in Togo.
At the end of a pulsating encounter that ensued between the two teams at the Kegue International Stadium in Lome, Ghana has lost 3-1 and hence bows out of the tournament.
The team finished the group stage bottom of the standings with just one point earned from the draw against Nigeria last weekend.
The result means that the Black Starlets are unable to replicate the success enjoyed by the Black Satellites team at the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament.
That Ghana U-20 team led by coach Karim Zito had a successful stint last month when they ended up defeating Burkina Faso in the final of the tournament to lift the trophy.
