Afrobeats superstar Davido has spoken candidly about his greatest fear — not knowing the right time to step away from music.
In a recent broadcast, the singer admitted he is terrified of falling out of grace like many celebrities who once dominated their fields but later struggled with relevance.
Davido revealed that if given the chance, he would build a therapy centre specifically for people who were once popular and highly successful. He described the emotional toll of being “on top of the world” and suddenly losing that status.
To illustrate his point, he referenced his friend, Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, noting that despite all his achievements, people still mocked him after Portugal’s World Cup exit.
Davido said he prays daily for divine guidance so he does not ruin the legacy he has worked tirelessly to build.
He said: “If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful people. Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not.”
“Even in soccer, you win World Cup, Champions League and other trophies and people still don’t think it is enough. Look at my good friend Ronaldo — after everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup.”
“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up.”
His emotional revelation has sparked conversations about fame, pressure, and the mental health challenges faced by global stars.
