Abengourou, Sept 27, (AIP) - The spokesperson for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in charge of overseeing voting in the region of Indiana-Djuablin, Me Victoire Alley, has called for violence-free election campaign.
"I hope that the election campaign that will open on Friday unfolds without violence so that the vote will be held without violence on 13 October.
You must avoid tearing the posters of the opponent. It's not democratic and it's not the right thing to do."
The region of Indiana-Djuablin had never been involved in election violence and she asked that 'this good reputation is not betrayed by acts of violence'.
"Candidates should focus on their agenda to make sure that they get the most out of the electorate," she added.
The prefect of the region, Indiana-Djuablin and the department of Abengourou, Fadi Ouattara, said it was important for all to work together to protect the peace.
"I hope that the campaign will take place in a fraternal and peaceful atmosphere.
