The old Students of Krachi Senior High School, Kete-Krachi, have built and furnished a library complex for the school.
The Old students, who are known as Abrese, handed over the library, as well as books and furniture, to the school at a ceremony in Kete-Krachi over the weekend.

Krachi Senior High School was established in 1971 and remained one of the most deprived senior high schools in the country until 2004 when it was selected to benefit from President John Agyekum Kufuor’s Model School Project.
The initiative was aimed at upgrading at least one senior high school in each district to a modern standard.
The school was upgraded to a capacity that can accommodate 2000 students.

Krachi Senior High School witnessed a significant addition to its existing infrastructure as part of the model school project such as dormitory blocks, classrooms, science and computer laboratories, an assembly hall and teachers’ bungalows.
The development, however, did not come with a library block so the students still used a classroom which had been converted into a library.
The growing number of students made that classroom too small to accommodate students who wanted to use the library.
The old students of the school decided to take up that challenge. What started as an abstract suggestion at the association’s meeting in Accra became a concrete reality and students and teachers of the school were all joy at the commissioning of the project.
The library is named after the former Director of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and the National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor.
Yaw Donkor is an old student of the school and was instrumental in helping to raise funds for the project.
The National President of the Krachi Senior High School Old Students Association, Annor Kissi, expressed his gratitude to Yaw Donkor and all others who helped to make the project a success.
He called on old students across the world to join the association and help to uplift the school. He appealed to the school to maintain the library well.

The headmaster of the school, Michael Kodzo Amemo, thanked the old students, particularly, Yaw Donkor; the MP for Krachi West, Helen Adwoa Ntoso; and the Krachi West District Chief Executive, Douglas Osei Nti, for their various contributions to the school.
“Mr. Yaw Donkor financed the construction of a basketball court for the school, donated about 26 goats and sheep to the Agricultural Science department and facilitated the acquisition of pick-up vehicles for this school and the establishment of the School Police Cadet Corp,” Mr. Amemo said.
He said the MP, “Hon. Hellen Adjoa Ntoso, also facilitated the construction of the school assembly hall [which was part of the model school project but stalled), the renovation of the school dining hall, the construction of the 3-bedroom bungalow and the 4-unit, 2-bedroom quarters for staff.”
