The items included over 5,581 selected books of different levels, 200 chairs and 44 tables.
Mr. Sam Afful-Logotse, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Mr. Collins Kofi Awuku the Country Director of the Organization handed over the items to the management of the school at a ceremony held at the premises of the school in Wumenu in the Volta Region.
Mr. Afful-Logotse said the project was initiated jointly by the Country Director of the organization in 1998 when he was teaching at the Ho Kpodzi 'A' JSS, and his cousin Chief Gift Amu Logotse.
He said during their visitation to the community they saw the need for them to combine their resources to help better the lot of the citizenry there, especially the children.
According to Mr. Afful-Logotse, the donation was to dignify the pupils and the teachers in the era of child right, and save the children from the daily trauma of carrying tables and chairs to and from school.
'We hope the teachers will allow the children to use the books effectively for not to learn how to read and write, but also by reading them to learn new concepts and develop their creative abilities.'
He quoted Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, First Vic Chancellor of University of Education Winneba (UEW), who said: 'The illiterates of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.'
'Let us allow the children to explore to learn rather than cage their abilities in this 21st century, and by so doing it will go a long way to help them to become great creators and innovators of their time, he added.
Mr. Awable Kwame, the School's P.T.A Chairman, received the items and thanked the organization for their humanitarian gesture.
He expressed the hope that they would continue to support the school to enable the children acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to be well-informed in society.
He assured them that the items would be used for the purpose for which they were donated, to help promote teaching and learning in the school.
Mr. S. K. Kudu, headmaster of the school, commended the donors for coming to their aid, and stated that lack of place of convenience for the pupils, teaching and learning materials, encroachment on the school land, were some of the challenges they were encountering.
He appealed to philanthropists and other benevolent organizations to come to their aid.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Charles Agbesi the assembly man for the area who represented the MP and the District Chief Executive, and a large number from people in the town.
