Samreboi, a town in Wassa Amenfi west district is a large large town with population of 28, 909 and has almost 20 villages and towns surrounding it. Samreboi has been noted as a home for timber since the second largest timber processing company called Samertex timber and plywood company can be located there.
Not withstanding, the people living at this place are mostly farmers specifically cocoa farmers and cocoa has been Ghana's back bone since the emergence of cocoa commercial production in the country but yet the people there are suffering from lack of potable water, good roads and and others. In Samreboi, one can witness air strip, a good standard stadium and a hospital but no secondary school and a dusty road.
The road in the town need to be tarred and there must be second cycle institution looking at the large population in this area. With numerous cocoa firms such as Produce Buying Company (PBC), federated commodities, Almajaro Ghana limited, Cocoa Merchant Limited, Cocoa Abrabopa Limited, Olam Ghana Limited, Adwumapa buyers and a big company like Samertex situated there, I think the people deserves BETTER. In Ghana, a town with a population more than 15,000 qualifies to be district capital but why then in the case of Samreboi which has a population of 28,909 is not a district capital nor their road tarred nor any Senior High School.
The people deserves more than their current state of living. The whole population in the district (Wassa Amenfi West District) is 181, 125 which is unprecedented. There must be a division and Samreboi must be a district capital on its own.
My name is Wilfred Asuo Tandoh, a native of Samreboi and a member of the Samreboi Students of Conviction and a concerned citizen of Ghana.
