Obuasi Sec-Tech old students support alma mater

 
The Old Students Association of the Obuasi Senior High Technical School (Obuasi Sec-Tech), has begun the construction of a library/computer laboratory complex for the school.

Estimated to cost GH¢200,000, the project is being financed with contributions from old students in and outside Ghana. 

At the sod-cutting ceremony, which coincided with the third homecoming of old students to the school at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, the organiser of the old students' group living outside Ghana, Mr Tawiah Bio, said the decision to help the school was because the school contributed positively in shaping their lives. 

He said it was important for old students to support their alma mater since the government alone could not provide all the needs of schools.

Mr Bio also indicated that a computer laboratory for the school was crucial because in this technological age, it was necessary for teachers to think about integrating technology into what went on in the classroom.

 Mr Bio said the library had a seating capacity for about 200 students and expressed the hope that the project would help change the face of learning in the school.

On behalf of the North America and United Kingdom branches of the Old Students' Association, Mr Bio presented educational materials including pens and books, and GH¢2000 to the school, while those in Ghana gave GH¢5,000.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Akomeah, thanked the old students for the gesture and indicated that the school's administration would continue to count on their future support.
