Go, I Am Sending You (3)

When the angel appeared to Gideon, he called Gideon a mighty hero, and told him that the Lord is with him. Imagine that! And Gideon immediately responded accordingly. He asked the heavenly messenger what he was talking about. How could he call somebody who has been robbed, bruised, disgraced, humiliated and defeated a mighty hero?? Gideon further queried the testimonies their forefather gave them about the miraculous powers of God. He queried the love and promises of God to Israel. He doubted His presence and grace with them. Listen to him, 'If the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn't they say, 'The LORD brought us up out of Egypt'? But now the LORD has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.' Are there similar questions in your heart today?

There are so many of us that thinks like this today. They think that God has abandoned them because of what they are going through. They have not really sat down to analyze and evaluate their situation. Why are you going through that particular situation? It is not enough to weep, complain about, get angry, backslide, contemplate suicide, etc. You must get back to God and ask Him to show you why you are going through your current challenges. Challenges could come as a result of trial of faith, attack from the enemy, a punishment for disobeying the will of God or as a result of ignorant of God's word, will and purposes. And as I will always say, if it is a punishment for your disobedience, then repent. If it is for your ignorance of His will, search the word and mind of God through scriptures and prayer. If it is an attack, repel it through high-powered persistent prayer. And if it is a trial of faith, endure, remain faithful, cheer up and move on because it is only going to be temporal and will ultimately, certainly bring about your promotion at the end. True! Now, here Israel was suffering because of their sins, especially the horrible sin of idolatry; spiritual prostitution.

God did not allow Gideon to finish his complaint, before giving him the divine assignment, 'Go with this you strength and deliver the Israelites from the Midianites, I am sending you. I will be with you.' Wow! This kind God? This is somebody who is reeling off his frustrations, confusion, weaknesses, low position of his family and tribe, impossible situations, and you are now cutting him short to send him to rescue a whole nation; trapped between permanent slavery and extermination, informing him that he already has an imbedded divine power and commission to do just that. Wow! Can you image that?

Yes, God is sending you on this mission despite your weaknesses, fears, past, background, place and circumstance of birth. He sees His strength, calling and purposes in you and not your weaknesses. He has chosen you to accomplish that and nothing, I repeat, nothing can stop you. He has overruled your inadequacies. He has remembered you. He has finally come to prove His word true, faithful and powerful. Nothing will stop Him. He said that He will be with you! Please let's talk about this next week. God bless you!
