A Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has petitioned the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts over difficulties he says he has encountered in accessing the authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, for consultations on urgent operational matters.
In a letter dated October 22, 2026, and addressed to the sector Minister, Mr Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, said repeated attempts to secure meetings with the CEO through her secretary or personal assistant had often resulted in being informed that she was unavailable.
He acknowledged the demands on the CEO’s schedule but said the situation had made it difficult for him to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions required to effectively perform his responsibilities.
According to him, the communication challenge had affected the timely execution of some official duties, including operations, stakeholder engagements and key assignments.
Mr Aggrey, who oversees Marketing and Special Duties at the GTA, stressed that his petition was not intended as a personal complaint against the CEO but was meant to draw attention to what he described as a communication gap that required attention to improve institutional efficiency.
He therefore appealed to the Minister to intervene, with the knowledge of the GTA Board Chairperson, to facilitate the establishment of a more effective channel for communication and consultation between the CEO’s office and his office.
He said such an arrangement would be particularly important in dealing with urgent official matters requiring prompt decisions and coordination.
Mr Aggrey also reaffirmed his commitment to working professionally with the CEO and the broader management team to advance the objectives of the Ministry and improve the performance of the Authority.
The letter was copied to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Chairperson of the GTA Board and the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA.
