NDC NDC Oforikrom polls: Treasurer aspirant challenges Ashanti Regional Minister over decision to proceed without all ballots
SAT, 24 OCT 2026

An aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Oforikrom Constituency Treasurer position, Isaac Kumah Asare, has expressed disappointment in Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene for allowing voting to continue despite delays in the availability of ballot papers for the Deputy Secretary and Zongo Caucus positions.

Mr Asare said aspirants had called for the entire electoral process to be suspended until ballot papers for all positions were ready, but their concerns were not addressed.

He explained that the delays had caused some delegates who were transported to the voting grounds to leave, raising concerns about the fairness of continuing the elections without their presence.

The treasurer aspirant described the situation as painful and unfair to candidates contesting the affected positions, arguing that proceeding without the relevant ballot papers undermined their opportunity to participate in the process.

“For me, I do not support the Regional Minister's decision, and I am highly disappointed in it. We are here to vote, but the ballot papers for the Deputy Secretary and Zongo Caucus positions were not ready. We raised concerns and called for the entire process to be halted until all the ballots were available, but our grievances were not addressed. Instead, the Regional Minister told us to proceed with the election,” he said.

Mr Asare maintained that he would continue to speak truth to power as part of his commitment to the NDC.
