One of the household names in the sale and servicing of mobile phones in Ghana, Freddies Corner, is in the news for bad reasons, ModernGhana can authoritatively report.
Some customers are not happy at the way and manner the company goes about its service delivery especially in the sale of brand new mobile phones some of which are already faulty upon purchase.
They are therefore accusing Freddies Corner of grand extortion since Freddies Corner have for several weeks refused to refund their monies or replace those faulty phones purchased.
Some of the victims, who spoke to ModernGhana on very strict conditions of anonymity, revealed that once the brand new mobile phones are tried and tested at the shop, the company hardly comes to terms with complaints that the phones turn out to be faulty after purchase.
They claimed that even in the face of the 14-days guarantee usually given to customers on the receipt of purchase, they have refused to operate within the terms and conditions they have outlined.
When ModernGhana got in touch with the office of Freddies Corner in a telephone interview, one of the managers at the shop, who was never ready to disclose his identity, went dirty and bellicose on the ModernGhana editor.
'We have terms and conditions of buying and that is what we are using to work, you can go to hell if you and your people don't understand the terms and conditions of purchase,' an arrogant male voice said, banging the phone in the process.
A clear case of the grand extortion and cheating Freddies Corner has been accused of engaging in, is the picture attached to this story where one of the customers purchased a Samsung Galaxy Phone at GHC300 from Freddies Corner's Office located at the Holy Gardens within the Kwame Nkrumah Circle on 7th June 2013.
'I bought the phone on a Friday and returned it the next day, which was a Saturday. They took the phone back promising to work on it or replace it and I wrote down my complaints to them and I was asked to report the following week.
I followed up the following week and to my utter dismay, I was given the same dead Samsung Galaxy phone. When I tried probing why it is so, the manager at the shop told me nothing can be done about it.
The irritating aspect is the fact that there are several others who have the same problems but they have refused to replace the faulty phones. This is daylight robbery because we did not breach the terms and conditions of purchase on the receipt,' one of the victims told ModernGhana in an angry and daring tone.

Thieves. exploiting Ghanaians. They do not have a good reputation in town. i want to get a tab from them but a lot of friends have advised me to get it from recognized reputable shops like Telefonika. If their business is going to be competitive and recognized as a good Mobile shop, they need to improve their services . Thank you
