Assam: Three Killed In Passenger Train And Vehicle Collusion At Unmanned Railway Crossing Level

Guwahati, May 4 : At least three people were killed and two others injured, when a passenger train hit them at an unmanned railway crossing level in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Saturday, officials said.

The incident took place at Balapara Chisapitha railway crossing level near Boko in the district, where a passenger train hit a Tata DI vehicle.

'When the bricks laden vehicle trying to cross the unmanned railway crossing level, a passenger train came from Guwahati to Bongaigaon hit the vehicle,' a police official said.

'Three people of the vehicle killed on spot and two others injured,' the official said.

The deceased persons are yet to be identified.

The injured were admitted to nearby hospital.

Local people alleged that, they have urged to the Northeast Frontier (NF) railway authorities to take necessary action for the unmanned railway crossing level at the area since past several years, but the authorities would not take action.
