Germany admits Opoku Ware Senior High School to German PASCH

Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - The German Ambassador, Dr Schimkoreit, the Goethe Institute and other Ghanaian partners have signed a declaration of intent to admit Opoku Ware Senior High School to the German PASCH (Partnership School Programme).

A statement issued by the German Embassy in Accra said the PASCH Programme supports about 1,500 schools worldwide in teaching German and was initiated by the German Foreign Office.

It said the programmes were implemented mainly by the Goethe Institute, the International Institute of German Language and Culture adding that in the medium term, there would be three PASCH Partner schools in Ghana with about 150 secondary school students between 13 to 17 years learning German.     

It said as part of the partnership programme students and their teachers would receive teaching materials and were eligible to be nominated for scholarships to take part in language courses in Germany.

Through a "German Club" students who are interested can study the German language as well as German culture and history, the statement added.

It said the declaration was made on January 29 this year, to the Opoku Ware Senior High School, a renowned boy's school located in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
