The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has officially installed Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, son of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, as the new leader of the religious movement.
The announcement was made on Sunday, June 21, 2026, through the Mission's official Facebook page, where a congratulatory message and video were shared to mark his assumption of office.
Describing the occasion as a major milestone in the history of the Mission, the leadership expressed confidence in Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I's ability to steer the affairs of the church and prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance as he takes on his new responsibilities.
The Mission also paid tribute to its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, stating that his vision, values and legacy would continue to inspire generations and shape the future of the organisation.
The installation comes amid reports of a legal challenge seeking to halt the succession process, as well as ongoing public attention surrounding a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, which occurred on the same day.
Despite the controversies, the Mission proceeded with the installation ceremony, formally ushering Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I into leadership of the church founded by his late father.
