The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has denied allegations circulating on social media regarding the incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at the church's property in Kwabenya on June 21, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Mission said Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue during a church event and allegedly drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property, causing significant damage to two metallic gates.

According to the Mission, the incident occurred while worshippers and invited guests were gathered on the premises, including individuals seated close to the entrance. It said the actions posed a serious risk to lives and property, adding that the situation could have resulted in injuries had the gates collapsed or the vehicle gained access to the compound.

The church explained that security personnel intervened to prevent further escalation and to protect attendees at the event.

The statement also rejected reports alleging that Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the incident. The Mission described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that, based on information available to it, no shooting occurred.

“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading. To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the statement said.

The church further expressed concern over what it described as unverified reports and called on the public to avoid drawing conclusions based on social media claims.

It urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into all aspects of the incident and establish the facts through due process.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace, truth, the rule of law and public safety, the Kristo Asafo Mission said it would cooperate with any investigation aimed at determining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The statement comes amid ongoing police investigations into the matter. The Ghana Police Service has already arrested six private security guards in connection with the incident and is continuing efforts to establish the full facts.
