Ghanaians urged to emulate the late President Mills

Koforidua, Aug. 10, GNA - Ghanaians have been asked to ensure peace and tolerance, despite their political differences, ideals the late President John Evans Atta Mills promoted.

The former Eastern Regional Minister, Major (rtd) Ted Tetteh, made the call at the funeral of the late President Mills, organized by the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council at Koforidua, on the eve of the burial of the late President on Friday in Accra.

The Eastern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Suleman Amdani, called on religious and traditional leaders and political parties officials to ensure that Election 2012 was successful devoid of violence.

In a sermon, the Reverend Alex Ofori Amankwaah, Eastern Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, called on political leaders to collectively work towards the achievement of national objectives.

Tributes were read on behalf of the National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party, Convention People's Party, market women and drivers in Koforidua, the Ghana Journalists Association and the security services.
