Quest for Answers - What Killed President Mills

The report of President Mills death and the secrecy surrounding his illness suggest the possibility of foul play and the death needs to be investigated.

Three weeks ago, President Mills declared to the nation that he is ready to start a vigorous campaign for re-election. The staff at the castle confirmed the fitness and heartiness of President Mills and affirmed his strength by showing off jogging at the airport.

President Mills went on the road, as promised, in full show and style of a vigorous campaign, and commissioned projects. The president walked without assistance and mingled, chatted and joked with the public on his trail. He delivered powerful speeches on his hustings.

If the staff at the castle misled the nation about the true state of health of the president and induced the the president to fake his health, then this calls for an investigation. If the staff at the castle lied about the health of the president then what else could the staff be hiding from the public?

The staff at the castle could be hiding the fact that the president was poisoned or whatever else.

News reports list blood oozing from the mouth of the president. Some reports say the president died at the castle and the body moved to the 37 Military Hospital. Another story is that the president was seriously sick in the morning of the day of his death, but he agreed to accept a delegation that included former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. Then there is the trip to Nigeria which was broadcast to the nation on the morning of President Mills last day.

The nation and the immediate family of President Mills need a closure to issues and stories surrounding when the president died and true cause of death. It will not be wrong for the body of President Mills to be transported to a foreign country for an genuine determination of the cause of death.

This should be a concern of President John Mahama. Anything other than a full, transparent and uncensored determination of the cause of President Mills death taints President Mahama's ascend to the presidency and impugns his selection as NDC's standard bearer.
