Accra, July 19, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills, poised to win the 2012 elections, for a second term, is set for the electioneering on the message of peace and development.
Having campaigned on the platform of change in 2008, President Mills, the leader of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has re-emphasised that Ghana would come out of the elections unscathed.
“The President has often said God himself will lead us through the elections,” Mr Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communications at the Office of the President told journalists in Accra.
Mr Anyidoho was giving a brief on the preparedness of President Mills campaign, before the NDC officially launches the campaign in August to get a second term in the December general poll.
He reiterated that President Mills is still committed to the Better Ghana Agenda, anchored on investing in people, building a resilient and robust economy, providing jobs and running an open, transparent and accountable governance.
This, he said, is because the people of Ghana need development.
The Director of Communications confirmed that President Mills, the Leader of the NDC and Former President Rawlings had met at the Castle, and the feedback from the rank and file of the party is positive.
“The feedback is positive … The NDC is united, we'll come out of the elections unscathed. We can only move forward and not backward,” Mr Anyidoho said.
He said the inauguration of the Millennium City Classroom Block at Mamprobi in Accra on Wednesday is an indication of the commitment of the Mills Administration to the development of the nation's human resource.
On the oil and gas industry, the Director of Communications said Ghana stands to benefit more from the product.
He announced that a test run of the gas pipelines would be carried out next November, adding that the Government is putting in place the necessary infrastructure to enable the country enjoy maximum benefit from the industry.
“God willing, if President Mills gets the second term in 2013, Ghana should be a different story all together,” Mr Anyidoho said.
