Zaare (UE), July 3, GNA - The Saint Louis Junior High School at Zaare in the Bolgatanga Municipality has marked its golden jubilee with a call on stakeholders to help the academic facility to expand its infrastructure.

The School also known as “Akature” Junior High School was established in 1962.

Speaking on the theme: “Enhancing Peace, Love and Unity through Education,” the Headmistress of the School, Mrs Agnes Benson said the classrooms are overcrowded.

”What is making the situation worst is that the school compound is very small (and being) encroached upon...” and asked stakeholders to help reverse the situation.

The Headmistress noted that despite the constraints the school was doing quite well in terms of academic pursuit and sports activities.

The Assembly man of the Zaare Electoral area where the school is located, Mr Sanky Azumah Abiire, noted that since the school is the only academic facility in the area he would facilitate a meeting with the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to improve on standards.

Mrs Ananzaya Victoria Lamisi, Municipal Community Participation Coordinator, suggested the need for the community to own the school.

She complained about the upsurge of indiscipline in schools in the Municipality and appealed to parents and teachers to instil discipline in the students.

“Another worrying trend is that teenage pregnancies are on the increase. I urge the girls here to identify women role models and do well to also become like them. You must abstain from promiscuity so as to avoid getting pregnant and contracting sexually transmitted diseases,” she added.

Mr Noble Alagskomah who spoke on behalf of the old boys and girls Association of the School pledged to renovate the school in August this year.
