
Mampong (Ash), June 11, GNA – Mr Daniel Appau-Ohyeamang, Asante-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, has vowed to capture the seat from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in this year's general polls.
He said he believed that the voters would reward the NDC with the parliamentary seat that has traditionally been held by the NPP in appreciation of the tremendous progress brought to the area within the past there years.
Mr Appau-Ohyeamang told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that his creditable performance as MCE is his trump card.
He said the municipal assembly under his watch has through its share of the Common Fund built 26 classroom blocks saying Kofiase, Abuontem, Benim, Atonsuagya, Aframso and Sekura are among the beneficiary communities.
He said added to these, are the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) funded school projects at Adidwan, Bosomkyekye, Atonsuagya, Kofiase, Woraso, Apaah, Oseikrom/Domi and Asaam.
Mr Appau-Ohyeamang said besides, the assembly has awarded scholarship to 240 students in senior high schools (SHS) and tertiary institutions and that apart from the significant improvement in schools infrastructure, the water and sanitation situation has become better.
He said more than 600 young people have received employable skills training and that despite the job done, they are not leaving anything to chance as the party is working hard to ensure electoral victory.
He called for a clean and healthy electioneering campaign by all the political parties and their supporters to protect the peace in the area.
