Accra, May 31, GNA - The Reverend Solomon Kotei, General Overseer of the Radiant Light Gospel Mission, has observed that sustained peaceful co-existance In Ghana is the panacea for rapid socio-economic development.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to work hard at promoting peace rather than division because peace is the fulcrum upon which economic growth revolves.

The Rev. Kotei who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the subject “peace and tranquility in Ghana” however observed that to ensure sustained' tranquility, and peaceful co-existence, intellectuals should stop misleading the masses with all kinds of debates that were likely to inflame passions.

The ravages of war in some neighbouring countries should prompt everyone to deepen his or her level of tolerance and to appreciate the view of everyone irrespective of where they belong, he said.

The Rev. Kotei also observed that efforts to achieve peace would depend largely on prevalence of the rule of law and that "Therefore we should allow the supreme law of the country work”.

He appealed to politicians to refrain from pronouncements that would worsen the already volatile political environment, emphasising that whatever differences that existed amongst the leadership of political parties could be resolved amicably.
