Tarkwa, May 10,GNA- The Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality recorded a total of 99,850 registered voters in the just ended biometric registration exercise.
Out of the total, 5,500 persons are yet to receive their Voter's Identity cards.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr. Kwaku Owusu Addo, explained that most registration centres during the final phase of the exercise experienced shortages of laminating materials resulting in their inability to issue the cards immediately as initially planned.
He said by the end of July, all those who have not received their cards will have them delivered since his outfit has documented the necessary information already.
Mr. Owusu Addo described the whole process as successful even though the machines used for the exercise broke down frequently, they exceeded their target of 95,000 registered people.
He commended individuals who represented the various political parties for comporting themselves and helping to make the registration process violence free.
