EC to undertake continuous voter's registration next year

Nkawkaw, May 10 , GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) would undertake continuous voter's registration exercise at the District Electoral Offices of the Commission next year, for those who had attained 18 years and other who could not register during this year's biometric voter's registration exercise.

The Kwahu West Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr Eugene Boateng, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), at Nkawkaw on Wednesday.

He said 65,073 people were registered in all the 106 electoral areas in the municipality, representing six per cent increase, in the just ended 40 -day exercise.

Mr Boateng said there were 37 challenges against some registered persons, suspected to be aliens, under 18 years of age and non-residence of the electoral areas, and added that a municipal review committee had been formed to review the cases .

Mr Boateng said Regional Directors of the EC would soon meet in Accra to decide on a mopping up registration exercise in certain areas of the country.

He said the registration exercise went on smoothly in all the electoral areas in the municipality, and commended political parties and the EC for ensuing the success of the exercise.
