EC defers prisoners' registration

By Ghana| Joy News Television

The Electoral Commissions says it has in consultation with the prison authorities deferred the registration of prisoners in the ongoing biometric voter registration until further notice.

A statement issued by Acting Director of Public Affairs, Christian Owusu-Parry in Accra said the deferment has become necessary to give the prison authorities ample time to resolve issues regarding the true identities of some of the inmates.

The statement said the Commission will make the necessary arrangements to register the prisoners as soon as the matter is resolved.

We are trying to follw the West blindly by allowing inmates to vote. Seek ye first , the law abiding people , as far as voting is concerned and let tthe criminals come and enjoy the fruits of our vote. Imagine the votes of inmates put a party over the limit . WOW! Some ordinary citizens who will like to register might be mised due to time constraints , distance etc . and yet we going to carry bio-machines into the jail ?
