Two suspected thieves have been arraigned before the Tema Circuit Court for stealing 443 boxes of Ridomil gold pins and fungicides valued at GH¢620,000.
The accused persons, Noah Bakuru, 28 years, and Emmanuel Zeetu, 39 years, all security men working for Debill Security Limited and stationed at the Tema heavy industrial area, pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and stealing.
The court, presided over by Mr. Eric Kyei Baffour, has therefore, remanded them into custody.
Presenting the facts of the case before the court, the Prosecutor, Inspector Dadzi, pointed out that on 31 March 2012, the second accused, Emmanuel Zeetu, was on duty at the Wienco warehouse from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
According to the Prosecutor, in the course of his duty, the first accused, Noah, came to inform him that he had some people who wanted to come and steal some of the goods in the warehouse, and that they would give him some of the money if he allowed them to execute their plan.
The prosecution told the court that the second accused person agreed to his evil plan, and allowed he and the first accused, Noah, to lead about 15 men into the yard and break the padlock to the warehouse.
Inspector Dadzi further noted that the accused persons had access to the warehouse and stole 443 boxes of Ridomil gold pins and fungicides valued at GH¢620,000, adding that on April 2, 2012, the complainant, Yaw Boafo Karam, a Logistics Manager of Wienco Ghana Limited, went to the warehouse to take stock, and realised that there had been a shortage of 443 boxes of Ridomil gold pins and fungicides.
'The complainant immediately came to report the case to the Community One Police Station. The police later arrested Emmanuel Zeetu, who admitted the offence, and mentioned Noah Bakuru as his accomplice,' the court heard.
