Mpraeso (E/R) Jan. 28, GNA - A Circuit Court at Mpraeso, presided over by Mr Kwaku Osei, on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old fisherman to seven years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The fisherman, David Adzesiwor, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Prosecuting Detective Police Inspector Christian Apronti told the court that both the fisherman and the victim live at Adaekope village, a fishing community near Ekye-Amanfrom, in the Kwahu North District.
He said on December 24th last year, the parents of the victim detected a strange movement between the girl and the fisherman and when she was interrogated she said Adzesiwor had sexual intercourse with her in a nearby bush.
The prosecutor said when the fisherman was invited and questioned, he admitted having sexually assaulted the victim and pleaded with leniency but a report was made to the Police and he was arrested and charged with the offence.
